Questions, answered.
A game written by a sex therapist. Here's how it works, who it's for, and what it isn't.
The game
What is Play Time?
Play Time is a card game for couples, designed by a sex therapist. Roll the 12-sided die, draw a card from the matching category, read it out loud, then do it, tweak it, save it or pass. There are 72 cards across seven categories and five heat levels. You can learn it in a minute.
Who is it for?
Adult couples, 18 and over, who want more connection, more play and more variety in their sex life. It works whether you've been together six months or twenty years. It's designed for any couple, whatever your gender, orientation or relationship style. Cards talk about "you" and "your partner," not about specific bodies.
How long does a game take?
As long as you want. Cards run from five minutes to a whole evening, and the time is printed on every card. Some nights you'll play one card. Some nights you'll play ten.
Do we need anything else?
No. Everything you need is in the box. The Toy-Friendly expansion asks you to bring one toy you already own. A few cards suggest household things like a scarf, ice or a blindfold, and you can always swap them for something else.
The sex therapy behind it
What makes this a sex therapy game?
Every card was written by [Name, credentials], a practicing sex therapist, drawing on the same principles used in the therapy room:
- Structure takes the pressure off. The die picks what happens next, so neither of you has to be the one asking.
- Slow, graded steps. The heat ramp moves from touch and talk to bolder play. That builds comfort before intensity, similar to the sensate focus exercises therapists have used for decades.
- Talking is part of the game. Reading a card out loud makes saying what you want feel normal, and plenty of couples find that surprisingly hard.
- Consent is built into the rules. Passing, tweaking and stopping are part of how the game is played, not an interruption to it.
Is it therapy?
No. Play Time is a game informed by clinical practice. It isn't treatment, and it isn't a substitute for working with a qualified professional. Many couples find it helps them talk about sex and reconnect. If you're dealing with pain, a medical condition, trauma, or distress about your sex life, please see a doctor or a licensed sex therapist. Play Time works well alongside that, but it doesn't replace it.
Can therapists use it with clients?
Yes. Some therapists suggest it as between-session homework: a low-pressure way to practice communication and graded touch at home. If you'd like to stock it for your practice, get in touch about professional pricing.
Who is [Name]?
[Two or three sentences: credentials, years in practice, the type of work you do, and why you made the game. Include a photo. This answer carries more of the brand than any other on the page.]
Playing
What if one of us doesn't want to do a card?
Pass. There's no limit, no penalty and no explanation needed. Put the card back and roll again. The only rule that matters is that both of you are having a good time.
Can we change a card?
Yes, please do. If most of a card sounds great and one detail doesn't, keep the part that works. The cards are prompts, not instructions.
How do we keep it at our comfort level?
Before you play, agree on a heat ceiling, say, nothing above Heat 3. Pull any cards that are off the table, and put them in your Keep List at the back of the rulebook so they stay out. The spice meter on every card tells you where it sits before you commit.
What if we want to stop mid-card?
Stop. Not slow down, not "let me talk you into it." Either of you can end the game at any time, and no discussion is owed.
What are the rarities?
Each card is Common, Uncommon or Rare. Rarity changes how the card looks and how often you'll draw it. It never changes how extreme the card is. Rare cards are just more memorable.
Can we play it with more than two people?
It's written for two. Any other arrangement is up to you and your partners, as long as everyone involved has agreed to it.
Expansions
What are the expansions?
There are six packs of 12 cards: Date Night, Weekend Getaway, Long-Term Couples, Quick & Dirty, Toy-Friendly and Travel. You can shuffle them into the base deck by category color, or play one pack on its own for a themed night. See all six.
Do I need the base set to use them?
Yes. Expansions use the base set's die and rules.
Are the expansions more intense?
Some are. Each pack shows its heat range on the box. Long-Term Couples and Date Night are the gentlest. Quick & Dirty starts at Heat 3.
Playing online
Can we play without the physical deck?
Yes. An online play subscription puts the full 72-card base deck in your collection, with a private two-player room, the digital die and the same pass, tweak and stop rules. Your partner joins with a room code from any phone, tablet or computer.
What are digital packs?
Three random cards from an expansion set, torn open on screen and added to your collection. They're a licence to use the cards in the online game, not a physical product, and they aren't refundable once opened.
Buying, shipping & privacy

Does it ship discreetly?
Yes. Plain outer packaging, and a neutral name on the label and on your bank statement: "PT Games". Nothing on the outside says what's inside.
Where do you ship?

What's your return policy?
Due to the nature of the product we can't accept physical returns. Instead, every physical purchase comes with a full 7-day money-back guarantee: email us within 7 days of delivery and we refund the product price, no return needed. Damaged or faulty items are replaced free. Full returns policy.
Is my information private?
We only use your details to process and ship your order and to run your account. We don't sell or share them. Privacy Policy.
Why is there an age check?
Play Time is for adults only. The site includes suggestive imagery and frank language about sex, so we ask everyone to confirm they're 18 or older before entering.
